1. Check the Color
Pure turmeric has a rich, vibrant yellow-orange hue. If the powder appears too bright yellow or pale, it may be adulterated with synthetic color or starch.
2. Smell the Aroma
Genuine turmeric has a strong, earthy fragrance with hints of orange and ginger. A faint or chemical-like smell can be a red flag for artificial additives.
3. Do the Water Test
Take a glass of warm water and add a teaspoon of turmeric. Pure turmeric will mostly settle at the bottom without leaving much color in water. If it dissolves quickly and turns the water bright yellow, it may contain colorants or fillers.
